Recommended Tools for Bloggers
Bluehost– website hosting. Super friendly and fast customer service. If you’re worried about “outgrowing” them if your blog gets too big, get their cloud hosting plan like I did! You can scale up your space and resources as you grow.
DNSimple– domain registration and DNS (I’ve heard Namecheap is fine too, but I needed some fancy DNS services for one of my sites so I went with DNSimple)
Genesis- a highly customizable WordPress framework that has lots of pre-designed themes (that you get in addition to the framework) on their marketplace
WP Fix It– Break something on WordPress? They can fix it in like an hour. So, so fast (and good!). They can also speed up your site, clean up malware, or change your site’s colors or CSS.
Canva (free)– DIY your own graphics with their pretty templates, fonts, and basic design tools. Good for making your own social media graphics
Adobe Photoshop– If you’re planning on designing professional-level graphics, I would get Photoshop (the Creative Cloud version) for just $10 a month (when I first started on Photoshop it was like $600 just for the one program and you had to upgrade it every few years… their subscription plan is so much more affordable for more people)
Instapage– Landing page and sales page designer. This one is actually pretty expensive but if you’re going to make a lot of opt-in pages or landing pages for email marketing, etc, then this is so easy to use and makes BEAUTIFUL pages.
Social Media & Communication
Mailchimp (free to start)- send email newsletters to your list. I use Mailchimp because it’s easy to use and I get a high five from a chimp every time I send out an email campaign (no really, you do!). 🙂
Dropbox (free)- share and store files online
Gumroad– payment processor that lets you sell digital downloads
GetDPD– another payment processor (what I currently use now)
Post Planner– manage and schedule posts for social media and then recycle them! I am absolutely in LOVE with Post Planner. My social media marketing is completely on autopilot thanks to this and…
