Why You’re Frustrated with Your Business

Why You’re Frustrated with Your Business

This post originally appeared on my mental health blog Resilient.

The Buddhists say that attachment is the root of all suffering.

And if that’s true, then the reason you’re frustrated with your business right now is because you’re attached to an idea of the way things should be, but they’re not. Your current reality doesn’t match up with what you want.

And that’s not necessarily a bad thing! There are two options here.

You can either change your expectations or you can change your situation.

In some cases, you can’t really change what’s going on around you, so you just have to change your attitude about it. And in other cases, it’s very possible to make changes in your life, and you’ll be much happier if you do actually change your reality instead of staying in an unhealthy situation.

It definitely depends on what you’re frustrated or unhappy about. If you’re doing something shady to make money, then changing your situation would be much more helpful than changing your attitude. So in that case you would shift your business into a different direction.

But if it’s something like you’re frustrated because you’re not making any sales in a business you are passionate about, then it’s definitely worth figuring out how you can change and improve the situation, because naturally you wouldn’t want your business to stay revenue-less forever. But still, you don’t have to beat yourself up over not being where you thought you’d be by now. Everyone has their own journey. 🙂

You can choose to have a positive attitude in any situation. If it helps, focus more on the future you want than the present that is frustrating you. Do what it takes to make it through, and always have a positive goal to look forward to in your future.

That way, even if you feel frustrated in the moment, you know you’re working towards a better future. And that’s worth a little frustration. 🙂
